"Like Peas and Carrots"

History and Forrest Gump,"are like peas and carrots." The movie Forrest Gump is about a man in the 20th century suffering with Asperger's syndrome. The story is narrarated by the character Forrest Gump as he shares his life story with random people at a bus stop. He lives in a time period filled with famous political and historical experiences and a majority of these stories effect the course of his life.  The Watergate Scandal, The Little Rock 9, and 70's Protest Movements are a few of the historical experiences this man had without realizing their cultural significances. Identifying the connections between Forrest Gump and a US History class is easy to do. However, what most viewers of this film fail to notice is how the music of the film also significantly portrays the stories of the time period.

"Music doesn't lie. If there is something to be changed in this world, then it can only happen through music." -Jimi Hendrix
